Kundalini Yoga, a spiritual and physical practice, has its origins in ancient Indian sacred texts, including the Vedas and Upanishads. This style of yoga focuses on awakening the Kundalini energy, often depicted as a serpent coiled at the base of the spine. Philosophically, Kundalini Yoga draws on the traditions of Tantra and Shaktism, emphasizing the importance of the divine feminine energy, or Shakti. Course of a typical session

Opening the Session: The practice begins with the chanting of the Adi Mantra, “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo,” which helps one connect to universal consciousness and set an intention for the session.

 

Warm-up: Warm-up exercises, often in the form of pranayama (breathing exercises), are performed to prepare the body and mind. This may include gentle movements to loosen the spine and activate the energy.

 

Kriya: The main part of the session consists of a kriya, a series of physical exercises, postures (asanas), and breathing techniques aimed at achieving a specific goal, such as strengthening the immune system or improving flexibility. Each kriya is designed to mobilize the Kundalini energy.
